4-(3-Methoxyphenoxy)butyric acid

In the title compound, C(11)H(14)O(4), an inter-mediate for the synthesis of a new kind of estrogen receptor modulator, all non-H atoms lie on a common plane (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0472 Å). All C-C bonds in the side chain are in a trans conformation, and the hydroxyl group is also trans to the methyl-ene chain. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers showing a head-to-he...

Peroxidase-catalyzed Oxidation of Indole-3-acetic Acid.

The aerobic oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid catalyzed by horseradish peroxidase produces 1268 nm emission characteristic of singlet oxygen. Lactoperoxidase also oxidizes indole-3-acetic acid to produce singlet oxygen, but in contrast to horseradish peroxidase, this enzyme system requires hydrogen peroxide. In both of these systems, the intensity of the 1268 nm emission is small due to quenchi...

Oxidation of indole-3-acetic Acid-amino Acid conjugates by horseradish peroxidase.

The stability of 21 amino acid conjugates of indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) toward horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was studied. The IAA conjugates of Arg, Ile, Leu, Tyr, and Val were oxidized readily by peroxidase. Those of Ala, beta-Ala, Asp, Cys, Gln, Glu, Gly, and Lys were not degraded and their recovery was above 92% after 1 hour incubation with HRP. A correlation between the stability of IAA conj...

Vegetative propagation of Rambutan (Nepheliumlappaceum) by marcotting: effect of indole-3-butyric acid concentration

Rambutan tree (Nepheliumlappaceum L.) is an important but a lesser known fruit tree in Ghana and has several nutritional and medicinal uses. Efforts to establish plantation of Rambutan in Ghana to ensure its sustainable use is challenged with unavailable planting materials because the seeds are recalcitrant in nature, loses viability easily when exposed to dryness. Seeds are therefore sown dire...
